Wasting away again in “Liberal-leaderville”

Well, the BP oil spill sure is a “real beauty, a Gulf of Mexicocutie”. Paraphrasing the legendary singer / songwriter Jimmy Buffett, born in Pascagoula, Mississippi, yet raised in my adopted home town of Mobile, Alabama, it appears our liberal leaders in Washington “haven’t a clue”. His honky-tonk beach lifestyle and laid-back lyrics epitomize the entire region down here in the deep “red” south. Good food, good friends, and enjoying the good life that the Gulf Coast offers, or at least used to, until the spill (NY Times — H/T to MemeOrandum)…

With the economy in free fall, as our “leaders” in Washingtonsteer the great ship Americatowards the reefs of socialism, I reflect on those “MargaritaVille” (YouTube video) days when we were a nation united, or at least not as divided. I can remember a day when we had real leaders, leaders that didn’t allow foreign dictators to lecture our country or aging rock stars to bash a former President. As oil splashed up on the sugar white beaches ofGulf Shores,Alabama and East toPensacola,Florida, our “Commander-In-Chief”, had a little bash at the White House. Surrounded by liberalHollywood elitists, former Beatle Paul McCartney was “honored” by the Library Of Congress on Wednesday evening. While he entertained the President and serenaded the first lady, the 67 year old McCartney took the opportunity to fall in lock step with the rest of the liberal loons in attendance, blaming it all on Bush…

“The 67-year-old former Beatle attacked Bush’s intelligence after receiving the Gershwin Prize from the Library of Congress on Wednesday.” It’s a fantastic honor (for) the Gershwin family to give me this incredible award and for me to be awarded it by the Library of Congress. And in fact, after the last eight years, it’s great to have a president who knows what a library is,” McCartney said, drawing cheers from the audience.” – Fox News

Now I’m not sure where we can find evidence that the current President is more intelligent than the prior resident of the White House, considering Mr. Obama has not released his college transcripts. Hell, some say we can’t even find his birth certificate, and how does he have time to do so much more reading than his predecessor with all the parties, vacations, and 5-hour rounds of golf (PolitiPage.Com)?

The “leader” of this nation claimed recently that he was “in charge” (YouTube video) and that “the buck stops here”. That “from the moment this disaster began, the federal government has been in charge”. He then bashed BP like his minions blame Bush for his own drunken spending sprees and failed fiscal policies. Defending his response to the calamity, the President reminds me of a golfer caught improving his “lie”, cheating when no one is looking. Our leader claims “BP is operating at our direction. Every key action they take must be approved by us in advance”. So do we blame BP, or your “leadership”…sir?

So let’s get this clear, we allow BP to drill six miles offshore, then one mile down, deep into the pristine waters that produce 59% of theU.S.oyster production. Nearly three quarters of the wild shrimp harvested in theUnited Statescomes from the Gulf. A major breeding ground for some of the globe’s most prized endangered fish, including blue fin tuna, snapper, and grouper, according to the EPA. Why then, “leaders” of protecting the environment, why don’t we drill onshore, in Alaska, anywhere but so far out and so deep, where only robots can work in such an environment? Oh that’s right, liberals are “in charge”…

As the summer season descends upon the now taintedGulfCoast, with “all the red states covered in oil”, there aren’t too many “cheeseburgers being sold in paradise”. Tourism is down, reservations being cancelled, fishing suspended, as the “Obama-economy” hits the coast like a liberal hurricane. The leadership of the country has lost touch with its citizens, the constitution, and those who actually work for a living. If government was the answer to all our problems, why is unemployment higher than when the Liberals took office, and why can’t they stop the spill?

Yet the President sure loves him some basketball, as he celebrates with the NCAA national champions from Duke recently, and gives interviews during the NBA playoffs. Mr. President, if you were a head coach of a team run so poorly as you are running this country, with a losing record and the laughing stock of the league, guess what? I believe with your lack of leadership, lack of team building skills, lack of knowledge of how the game should be played, and you sir would be fired. Or at least forced to resign, as predicted by the American Spectator recently on the grounds of “misleadership”, my new favorite word…

“I am now ready to predict that President Obama will not even make it that far. I predict that he will resign in discredited disgrace before the fall of 2012. Like my previous prediction, that is based not just on where we are now, but where we are going under his misleadership.”

I recently spoke to a small business owner from Biloxi, Mississippiwho claims that the BP oil spill will be far worse than Hurricane Katrina, relative to long-term impact on the local economy. Yet I am sure our “Defender-In-Chief”, based on his liberal “misleadership” thus far would find a way to pass the buck. Paraphrasing Mr. Jimmy Buffet again, it might go something like this…“Yes and some people claim that there’s a Liberal to blame, but I know, its George Bush’s fault”….

Mr. President, your administration is bleeding, and you have “oil” on your hands. Here’s a novel idea and a true display of “compassionate leadership”. Rather than raising taxes on the greedy oil companies, (the typical liberal response that will be passed on the consumers), how about eliminating the 20% per gallon federal gasoline tax (TaxFoundation.Org) in the Gulf Coast states? Quoting your own Democratic talking head James Carville, “start doing something, people are dying Mr. President” (YouTube video).
