A Declaration of our Dependence

I’ve never been a big fan of birthdays, even if it’s celebrating the day our country was “born”. National holidays are great times to reconnect with friends and family, relax and restore some perspective. But to blindly cheer on a country in complete collapse, ignoring the the signs of decay is nothing more than denial.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m as patriotic as they come, and will forever respect those that fought and died for our freedom. The “Founding Fathers” of this great American experiment are to be honored as visionaries that shaped what would become the land of the “free”, and home of the brave…

What they might think of America today is often speculated by many, including the “lame stream media’s” own CNN

(CNN) – With signs of patriotism abounding for the Fourth of July, a new survey indicates seven in 10 Americans think the Founding Fathers would be disappointed by the way the United States has turned out, 237 years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

If 70% of those polled, even in this age of big government “dependence”, predict such I would guess the creators of our “independence” would believe “We the People” are out of touch…

Aside from the 47 million Americans dependent on the food stamp program, millions that work for the government, or depend on federal programs like social security, medicare or disability. Look how dependent as a nation we have become…

It’s not just all the government “hand outs” or cradle to grave “nanny state” regulations, as Americans have become far too dependent on technology as well. Imagine living without your cell phone today, or losing internet access? Does anyone really know their contacts actual phone numbers anymore, or just “depend” on tapping their name on a screen. If you’ve ever lost your “smart phone” you know what I mean!

We are definitely dependent on foreign oil to fuel our vehicles, heat our homes, and keep the lights on so we can watch reality shows and surf the web. You really think the founders would have blocked the Keystone pipeline or policies to achieve energy independence? Particularly with all the turmoil in the Middle East?

Soon we will all be dependent on government provided health care if the current regime gets their way. That’s 1/6th of the U.S. economy in the hands of the same folks that have bankrupted just about every big federal program. Obamacare will impose dozens of new taxes and change the landscape of medicine, enforced by perhaps the most “independent” collection agency in America, The I.R.S.

So as the country celebrates the 4th, with hamburgers, hot dogs and beer, it’s abundantly clear; America is not nearly as free as she used to be. The “Declaration” was not signed to ensure “Dependence”, but the pursuit of happiness, and ensure our “Independence”.
